Built in 1920, this two bedroom, two bath Victorian cottage has been rebuilt and re-imagined to honor the architectural heritage of the house, maintaining the Victorian roots of the home and property while introducing both old world and Cape Cod design influences. The result is a style that is fundamentally turn-of-the-century in terms of materials and craftsmanship, but with a degree of informality or relaxation to accommodate contemporary living, similar to successful renovations accomplished in other homes you find in the Historic Mission District or American Riviera neighborhoods of Santa Barbara,

The original single story home is now a two story house with a total gross living area of 1846 sq ft. The newly rebuilt house features three bedrooms and three full baths, with the master suite containing bedroom, bathroom, and private deck and garden occupying the second level. The home includes rich Victorian era finishes, including bespoke millwork crown moldings, tongue and groove ceilings, wall panels, casement windows and doors. The double French doors throughout the house are adorned with cremone bolt hardware and custom designed steeple door hinges.

The entire east and south facing facades of the house are surrounded by views of the manicured garden, while unobstructed views of the Mesa and a partial view of the ocean are available from south and west-facing windows of the home.

While the home embodies the restrained architectural elements of the Victorian era, the house actually incorporates current building standards of a 21st century. A new house foundation, foam roof insulation, central air, solar panels, and french drains were installed to ensure the infrastructure of the home would accommodate environmental conditions of the next decades.

All of the interior and exterior lights employ LED bulbs; and if ever your wireless network is not working, the house is ethernet hardwired to access the WEB. While the stone “carriage livery” is original to the 1920 construction, this one-car garage has been outfitted with an electric vehicle charging station suitable for an all-electric or plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle.

For security, the entire house is hardwired with zoned security sensors monitored by COX Homelife security, and there are 4 small security cameras that are motion-sensitive that monitor the outdoor perimeter of the house.
